Today, Lasair Dhearg Vice Chairperson Pádraic MacCoitir, a former Blanketman and Republican ex-Prisoner, was summoned to appear in court on allegations of criminal damage relating to an action Lasair Dhearg organised two years ago against the BBC.
The action seen the names of the 120 journalists slain at that time during the genocide in Gaza pasted on to the walls of the BBC building in Belfast. Red paint also adorned the building which represented the blood of the tens of thousands of Palestinians murdered by the Zionists at that stage of the genocide.
The decision was made to adjourn the case until another few weeks.
The fact that activists are brought in front of a British court in Belfast demonstrates Britain’s role in the complicity in the genocide in Gaza and their attempts to silence activists speaking out against it.
No matter the outcome of this case we will not stop highlighting our support for Palestine and their right to resist against genocide.
