British Royals not welcome in Ireland

Today witnessed Charles and Camilla Windsor, the British King and Queen, arrive in Belfast as part of their visit to the occupied Six Counties.

Charles Windsor is Colonel in Chief of the British Army’s Parachute regiment – a position held since 1977 – the same regiment that committed the Bloody Sunday, Springhill and Ballymurphy massacres. The British State still denies justice for the families of those murdered in massacres committed by British forces to this day.

No amount of bodhran playing or watching Irish dancers will cleanse Charles and the British monarchy’s blood soaked hands. He leads a monarchy that oversaw An Gorta Mór, where over one million Irish people perished from starvation and over two million people fled Irish shores, as a result of the British Government’s policies in Ireland. The Great Hunger saw the Irish language virtually eradicated from much of our Island.

Lasair Dhearg opposes all British Royal visits to Ireland and believe it will only be through delivering a Thirty Two County Socialist Republic that all aspects of British Imperialism will be wiped from our land.
