O’Neills: Suppliers of British Armed Forces

Lasair Dhearg recently highlighted O’Neills sportswear selling commemorative jerseys glorifying Britain’s occupying forces. We can now reveal that O’Neills support for the British Armed Forces extends further than commemorative jerseys and they are now directly supplying training gear to the British ‘Royal Air Force’.

Lasair Dhearg spokesperson Pádraic MacCoitir said, “we don’t need to give anyone a lesson in Irish history or Britain’s ongoing occupation of Ireland to highlight that this is wrong. O’Neills is acting in contradiction to the views of the wider GAA community and has clearly sold its soul for English gold.”

“Commemorative jerseys supporting Britain’s war machine are one thing but supplying equipment to help with the training of RAF personnel is direct collaboration with Britain’s war efforts and imperialist ventures the world over, and indeed the ongoing occupation of this island.”

MacCoitir continued, “Just like our entire community and class, the GAA has suffered greatly at the hands of British imperialism; prohibition, Bloody Sunday in Croke Park and the slaughter of 14 civilians and the murder of Aiden McAnespie to name but a few. Britain’s war crimes in Ireland are endless.”

“We will be raising this issue directly with O’Neills and calling for an immediate cessation of the production of these materials.”
