Following his six day tour of Israeli occupied Palestine, Stormont Education Minister Paul Givan of the DUP has returned to demands for his resignation.
Givan visited the Zionist occupation with other Unionist politicians after an invite via the Zionist embassy in London. During his visit, Givan enjoyed an intimate tour of Israeli settler apartheid. No doubt a colonial state that has destroyed near 88% of school buildings in Gaza and left over one million children without an education has much to teach a Unionist education minister.
Since facing calls to resign, Givan has doubled down in defending his trip. In his return speech at Stormont he praised the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) for their bravery. This is a force who on average murdered 28 children a day during their latest genocidal offensive in Gaza. Givan even celebrated the IOF’s pager terrorist attack in Lebanon – an attack which murdered 10 year old Fatima Abdallah Jaffar and left many more children with permanent disabilities, blinded and disfigured. Over 20,000 children have been murdered by the IOF in Gaza during the recent genocide, and thousands more lie unaccounted for under the rubble created by it’s bombs. 21,000+ children have been permanently disabled by it’s war machine – this is the ‘bravery’ Paul Givan glorified in his speech.
How best to illustrate the quality of governance that Stormont has to offer: a department charged with the education and welfare of 384,000+ children takes a ‘fact-finding’ mission to a country where Israel actively bombs schools and massacres children – then sides with Israel.
It is no surprise to Republicans that Unionism finds fellowship in the Zionist colonial project. Whilst the people of Ireland have firmly sided with the liberation of Palestine, Stormont has commited itself to the whitewashing and enabling of Zionist terror. Stormont can hold no-confidence in Given, we hold no-confidence in Stormont.
Onwards to the socialist republic, all settler states must fall!
