Last week, the Public Inquiry in Omagh recommenced into the destructive gold mine proposed by US Mining Company Dalradian.
Speaking on the subject, Lasair Dhearg Vice-Chairperson Pádraic MacCoitir said, “For almost twenty years Dalradian have tried to bully, deceive and bribe their way into getting the go ahead to devastate the Sperrin mountains. They proudly boast of US investment – that is where the money will go. In decades to come, when the Sperrin’s have been stripped bare, the people of Tyrone will be left to suffer the consequences.”
“They have fiercely and bravely held fast against the sinister efforts of Dalradian to intimidate those who oppose them. We are proud to support the Save Our Sperrin’s campaign and regardless of the outcome of the Public Inquiry, we will continue to oppose the extractive capitalism espoused by companies like Dalradian. The natural resources of Ireland belong to the people of Ireland and them alone.”
