Brutal Sectarian Attack On 13 Year Old Child Condemned

The brutal sectarian attack on a 13 year old boy, carried out in recent days by Loyalists wielding metal bars as the child made his way home, should be condemned outright by all right thinking people.

Derry Lasair Dhearg’s Caolán McKeever said, “It has been reported that the young lad at the centre of this disgusting attack had to flee to safety by crawling underneath a car to get away from his attackers.”

“It is no surprise to us that this has come a matter of weeks after it had been announced that the sectarian Orange Order aren’t allowed to march down the Garvaghy Road in Portadown. The same sectarian march which saw twenty one innocent Catholics murdered, including children, over twenty eight years ago.”

Caolán continued, “Catholics and those from ethnic minority backgrounds have been forced from their homes in Unionist areas across the Six Counties, with many being burnt out during the recent Unionist racist pogroms.”

“The targeting of innocent people has always been a tactic used by Unionists and their death squads, often ably supported by the state. These were scenes regularly witnessed throughout the most recent phase of conflict that saw the murders of over 1,000 innocent Catholics including children.”

“All attacks of a sectarian nature should be condemned outright, and those that perpetrate them will be held to account in a Socialist Republic.”
