We Haven’t All Gone Home” – Says Smiling British Soldier on Belfast Street

Today [19th March 2019], members of the British Army have descended upon the streets of Glenbawn in West Belfast.

Ciaran O’Brien, spokesperson for Lasair Dhearg, said that local residents had “confronted the soldiers” and challenged their presence in the area.

“We understand that, having spoken to local residents on the ground, a sizeable number of soldiers with technical equipment arrived in the area today and commenced a search of the area, cutting and digging through bushes at the rear of a number of properties adjacent to their homes.

“One resident in particular, who supplied us with images, said that though there were blatant attempts to disguise the soldiers in unmarked clothing and painted British Army jeeps, it was clear to all familiar with the crown forces who they were.

“When confronted about their presence in the area, residents were faced with strong English accents, and replies of ‘we haven’t all gone home’ from one particular smiling soldier.

“Clearly, more than 20 years since the Good Friday Agreement, Britain and its allies in Ireland believe that the old political order here has been fully restored.

“They would be wise to look at our history of resistance to foreign rule – there will come a time when Britain’s political and military order will be driven from Irish shores, once and for all.”
